Introduced in 1979, the only other coins available at that time to investors were the gold coins of the South African Krugerrand Series. Right now, 1986 1/10 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins are available to purchase online from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
Each 1986 1/10 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coin is available to you for purchase with individual packaging. These coins are offered in protective plastic flips and represent the fifth issue of the 1/10 oz gold weight in this series.
The 1/10 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf was introduced in November 1982. This was the point when the Royal Canadian Mint both enhanced the purity of the coins from .999 to 24-karat gold and added the 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz gold coins.
Queen Elizabeth II is on the obverse of 1986 Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins. This depiction of the Queen captures here at the age of 39 and is the second effigy of Her Majesty to grace Canadian coins. More interestingly, this is the first portrait of the Queen that was ever used on Gold Maple Leafs.
A sugar maple leaf features in the reverse design of 1986 1/10 oz Gold Maple Leaf Coins. This image shows the national symbol of Canada, the maple leaf, in a naturalistic design by Walter Ott.
