The Engelhard Company created the Engelhard Prospector Series in 1982. US collectors and investors were part of the reason why the series became one of the most successful silver rounds to make its foray into the global silver marker. This silver round is the second issue of the groundbreaking collection. Today, JM Bullion offers you the 1983 1 oz Engelhard Prospector Silver Round (E logo reverse design)!
Round Highlights:
Major silver refineries like Handy & Harman, Johnson-Matthey, and Engelhard were amongst the first companies to produce silver bullion products in the United States of America. These were primarily 100 oz and 10 oz bars. However, Engelhard broke from the mold with the production of the silver bullion rounds that became the first silver rounds to be marketed to the public community of US collectors and investors. Innovatively, they carried the image of the Prospector, giving birth to one of the most famous designs on a silver product.
For the obverse of the 1982 1 oz Engelhard Prospector Silver Round, the historic image of a prospector is featured. A prospector is someone who searches for mineral deposits. The prospector on the round is designed as a man bending over and into the water. He wears a hat as he searches the calm river for gold. The inscriptions on this side of the round include: ‘U.S.A 1983, and ‘The American Prospector. The design is surrounded by a beaded outer circle.
For the reverse of the 1983 1 oz Engelhard Prospector Silver Round, the image of the E logo is featured. It’s a big, bold E fixed within a large circle. The inscriptions on this side of the round include: ‘Engelhard’, and ‘One Troy Ounce 999+Fine Silver’. The outer rim of the round is decorated with a beaded circle like the obverse.
