What is the best way to obtain coins in brilliant uncirculated condition that represent each of the coins minted for circulation each year? Why, by purchasing a US Mint Set, of course! These sets provide both the existing coin collector and the person looking to begin their coin collection with an easy and affordable way to get that complete set. And better yet, they get complete sets of coins minted in 2 different US Mints. While 1972 was the second year of the Eisenhower Dollar, the US Mint once again did not include them in the Mint Sets. JM Bullion currently has these 1972 US Mint Sets available for purchase.

Mint Sets recorded a record high 2,750,000 sets sold in 1972. This record held until 1980 when 2,815,066 sets were sold. Mint Set sales tumbled in 1973 to only 1,767,691 sets, so sales had to work their way back up to the 1980 record level. It is a popular belief that the 1973 sales downturn was the result of the US Mint adding 2 more coins to the set and increasing the issue price by $2.50, bringing it to $6.00. This was likely too big of an increase at once for most coin collectors to work with. With no changes to the contents of the set, 1974 sales of sets saw an increase over 1973 sales.
This Mint Set contains 2 separate packages of 11 uncirculated coins. One package, marked with red edging, comes with 5 coins from the Denver Mint. Included are one each of the Lincoln Cent, Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Dime, Washington Quarter, and Kennedy Half Dollar. This set also contains a small plastic disk with markings of Bureau of the Mint and Uncirculated Mint Set. The second package, marked with blue edging, comes with 6 coins – 5 from the Philadelphia Mint and 1 from the San Francisco Mint. Included are one each of the Lincoln Cent, Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Dime, Washington Quarter, and Kennedy Half Dollar from the Philadelphia Mint and one Lincoln Cent from the San Francisco Mint. Like the 1971 set, the 1972 set did not include the new Eisenhower Dollar.
