Now, the 1938 Walking Liberty Half Dollar is available online from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
This 1938 Walking Liberty Half Dollar is available in Mint State 65 condition. The coin boasts balanced luster with minimal imperfections present. A typical MS65 coin has a few small, scattered contact marks or two larger marks. One or two small patches of hairlines be visible, but the coin has a very pleasing eye appeal overall.
The obverse of the 1938 Walking Liberty Half Dollar portrays Liberty walking forward toward a rising sun, symbolizing optimism and national progress. She is draped in the American flag, extending her right arm while holding laurel and oak branches in her left arm to represent civil and military honor. The inscription “LIBERTY” is placed to the right, while “IN GOD WE TRUST” appears beneath Liberty’s arm. The date is shown at the bottom of the design.
On the reverse of the 1938 Walking Liberty Half Dollar, a bald eagle stands on a rugged mountain ledge with its wings partially spread. Beneath the eagle, a young pine tree emerges from the rocky terrain. Surrounding the design are the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “HALF DOLLAR,” with “E PLURIBUS UNUM” appearing in smaller text near the pine branch.
The 1938 Walking Liberty Half Dollar was produced at all three mints with relatively moderate mintages, and the Philadelphia issue in particular is known for frequently exhibiting better strikes than many other dates in the series. This date remains popular with collectors as an affordable representative of the pre-war Walking Liberty coinage.
