In December 1921, the United States Mint introduced the Peace Silver Dollar, the final 90% silver dollar the US issued for circulation use. The coins featured a new design inspired by the efforts to both mark the hard-won peace of World War I and the desire of Americans to remain neutral going forward. Now, 1935 Peace Silver Dollar Coins in certified condition are available from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
In the obverse design of the 1935 Peace Silver Dollar, you will find a portrait of Lady Liberty. This new design shows Liberty in left-profile relief with a towering crown of light on her head. This design was meant to reflect the newfound peace following World War I.
For the reverse side of 1935 Peace Dollar Coins, de Francisci’s other design captures an American bald eagle at rest. The eagle is shown from behind with its wings at its sides as it rests on a rock ledge. The eagle is facing the sun on the horizon.
Anthony de Francisci’s Liberty design for the Peace Silver Dollar, introduced in December 1921, represented a dramatic departure from previous American coinage. The obverse features a youthful, radiant portrayal of Liberty, her expression serene yet determined, with flowing hair crowned by rays reminiscent of the Statue of Liberty’s crown.
These 1935 Peace Silver Dollar Coins are in Mint State 63 condition. Coins with this grade showcase a slightly impaired mint luster with numerous small contact marks, a few scattered heavy marks, and small hairlines that may be visible without magnification.
