Designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens in 1907, the $10 Indian Gold Eagle Coin was the final design series for the oldest gold coin denomination in American history. Originally introduced in 1795, the $10 Eagle used two previous designs prior to the adoption of Saint-Gaudens’ so-called Indian Gold Eagle design for the $10 denomination. Right now, 1932 Pre-33 $10 Indian Gold Eagle Coins are available from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
Each 1932 Pre-33 $10 Indian Gold Eagle Coin in this listing is in MS62 condition. Coins with this grade exhibit dull mint luster with clusters of small marks present throughout and the possibility of a small number of larger marks in the primary focal points. This listing comes with the potential for coins with various label designs in the slab and grades from either the PCGS or NGC. We cannot guarantee whether the coin you receive is PCGS or NGC, nor can we guarantee the label design. All coins will be MS62 specimens.
Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ $10 Indian Eagle coin design, created in the early 20th century, is considered a masterpiece of American numismatic art, featuring a stunning Native American profile in high relief on one side and a majestic eagle in flight on the other. Both designs embody the artistic brilliance and cultural symbolism during the Renaissance of American coinage under President Theodore Roosevelt’s artistic vision.
The obverse of 1932 $10 Indian Gold Eagles comes with a portrait of Lady Liberty. Referred to as the Indian Head design, it actually depicts classic Lady Liberty visuals of the time with the inclusion of an indigenous headdress upon her head. 13 stars are set in an arch above Liberty with the date mark beneath.
On the reverse of the 1932 Pre-33 Indian Eagle Coin, you will find an American bald eagle perched on a sheaf of arrows wrapped in an olive branch. Saint-Gaudens originally created the visuals found on this coin for the US Penny, but President Roosevelt preferred this design for the $10 Eagle. This design was one of only two created by Saint-Gaudens for the US Mint before his death in 1907, but both designs would go on to leave an indelible mark on the history of American coinage.
