In 1928, Peace Dollars were struck by the Philadelphia Mint and the San Francisco Mint, with the latter coins engraved with an S mint mark. The Philadelphia Mint struck only 360,649 coins, while San Francisco issued 1,632,000 coins.
On the obverse of 1928 Peace Dollars, you will find a left-profile bust of Liberty. This image shows Liberty wearing a crown of light on her head. The design captures the hope for continued peace and prosperity that gripped the nation following the horrors of World War I.
The reverse side of 1928 Peace Silver Dollars comes with a depiction of the American bald eagle. In this design, the eagle is shown perched on a rock ledge with its wings folded at its sides as it looks out toward the horizon. Rays of sunshine emanate across the field from the lower edge.
