The Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle is one of the most beautifully designed coins in American history. Introduced in 1907, it was the final design on the Pre-33 $20 Double Eagle and offered a groundbreaking depiction of Lady Liberty that captured America’s progress in the 20th century. Right now, 1927 $20 Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle Coins are available in certified condition at JM Bullion.

Each 1927 $20 Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle Coin available here comes in Mint State 66 condition. MS66+ coins are among the best at this grade level, offering above-average mint luster with several small contact marks, only a few of which may be in the prime focal areas. The 1927 release of Saint-Gaudens Double Eagles was the last to feature strikes by the Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Denver Mints in the same year. Although a large volume of these coins was produced by the Philadelphia Mint, with 2.946 million coins, the surviving specimens in Mint State condition number just over 178,000 according to the PCGS. The PCGS estimates that roughly 365 of these coins earned the MS66+ certification.

She is depicted with sun rays behind her figure, stars encircling the field, and the U.S. Capitol Building at her feet.
