As the Roaring 20s moved along, the United States Mint saw increased production figures for its coveted Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagles as economies around the world rebounded from the side effects of World War I in the previous decade. Today, 1927 Pre-33 $20 Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle Coins are available in certified condition online at JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
The 1927 release, like several previous years of issue in the 1920s, included coins struck by the Philadelphia Mint, San Francisco Mint, and Denver Mint. The US Mint issued more than 6.2 million of these coins in 1927, with San Francisco issuing the highest mintage, followed closely by Philadelphia.
All of these 1927 Pre-33 $20 Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagles are in MS63 condition. Coins with this grade have a slightly impaired mint luster with numerous small contact marks, scattered heavier marks, and small hairlines visible without magnification.
On the obverse of 1927 Pre-33 Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagles, you will find the full-length figure of Liberty. This iconic front-facing portrait shows Liberty with sun rays behind her figure a she walks toward you with an olive branch in one hand and a torch in the other.
The reverse side of 1927 $20 Gold Double Eagles comes with a depiction of the American bald eagle in flight. This design shows the eagle’s frame in left-profile relief as it glides through the sky while the sun rises on the horizon below it.
