The 1926 Peace Dollar falls in the middle of the Peace Silver Dollars production run at the United States Mint. With strikes by Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco, the 1926 Peace Dollar saw just over 11.26 million coins produced in total. This classic 1926 Peace Dollar features a soft frost throughout the devices with a gentle silver glow and a range of pastel hues from toning. Right now, the 1926-D Peace Silver Dollar Coin is available at JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
This 1926-D Peace Silver Dollar is a Mint State 66 specimen with an exceptional level of its original mint luster. The coin has only slight, unobtrusive contact marks and a sharp strike on all design elements. The coins showcase a range of colors from the toning of the silver, which includes hints of gold, russet, and a faint rose on the obverse, as well as warm tones of orange, green, and violet on the reverse.
The 1926-D Peace Dollar marks the first issue of Peace Dollars at the Denver Mint since 1923. In 1924 and 1925, only the Philadelphia Mint and San Francisco Mint produced silver dollars. After this 1926 issue, Denver would issue Peace Dollars only two more times, in 1927 and 1934, with neither issue reaching the volume of this 1926 release.
The obverse of the 1926 Peace Dollar Coin presents a left-profile portrait of Lady Liberty. Designed by Anthony de Francisci, the image shows Liberty adorned with a tall crown of light and her hair flowing freely. The inscription IN GOD WE TRUST appears here, with the distinctive Latin-influenced detail of using a V in place of the U in trust.
On the reverse of the 1926 Peace Silver Dollar, the American bald eagle is depicted perched on a rock ledge. Its wings rest neatly at its sides, and it is shown looking off toward the horizon where the sun begins to rise.
