The obverse has razor-sharp visuals for Liberty’s hair and crown, while the reverse showcases bold definition on the eagle. Now, the 1925 Peace Silver Dollar in MS67 condition is available online from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
This 1925 Peace Silver Dollar is an MS67 specimen. The average MS67 coin showcases above-average luster with three or four minuscule contact marks, one or two of which may be in the primary focal fields. This particular coin has a frosted, cartwheel luster across both sides with near-pristine surfaces and only a handful of hair-thin contact marks. Any marks present on the coin are confined to the outer edges and a subtle champagne toning adds to the visual eye appeal of the piece.
The obverse of the 1925 Peace Dollar Coin features a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty. Created by Anthony de Francisci, this design depicts Liberty with flowing hair and a tall crown of light atop her head. The motto IN GOD WE TRUST appears on this side, with a distinctive use of Latin lettering in the word trust, where the traditional U is replaced by a V.
On the reverse of the 1925 Peace Silver Dollar, the American bald eagle is shown resting on a rock ledge. Its wings are folded at its sides, and it looks out toward the rising sun in the distance.
In order to meet the initial demands of the Pittman Act, the US Mint resumed its production of silver dollars between 1921 and 1923 with very high mintage volumes. For example, the 1922 Peace Dollar had a total mintage of 84.275 million coins. By 1925, overall mintage was just over 11.7 million coins in total, with Philadelphia striking 10.198 million coins and San Francisco just 1.61 million coins.
