The Peace Silver Dollar holds the distinction of being the final 90% silver dollar to circulate in the American economy. First issued in late 1921, these coins marked the return of silver dollar coinage in the United States and featured a design by Anthony de Francisci. His winning design was selected from a competitive artistic contest that involved several prominent American artists of the 1920s. Today, 1925 Peace Silver Dollar Coins in certified condition are available at JM Bullion.

The Peace Silver Dollar was introduced in December 1921 to replace the Morgan Silver Dollar design, which had briefly resumed production earlier that same year. Over the course of the Peace Dollar program, the average annual mintage was roughly 5.9 million coins, though the first several years saw extremely high mintage volumes, while latter years had below-average mintages. In 1925, Philadelphia struck 10.198 million coins and San Francisco struck 1.61 million coins.
Each 1925 Peace Silver Dollar Coin offered here is certified in Mint State 65 condition. Coins with this grade are recognized for their attractive, high-quality luster, especially considering their age and the strike. While some minor, scattered contact marks might be visible, or a couple of slightly larger marks, these coins maintain a stunning overall appearance. Additionally, one or two small areas of faint hairlines may be present on the fields.
The obverse of the 1925 Peace Dollar showcases a beautiful depiction of Lady Liberty. This left-profile design highlights Liberty’s flowing hair and a radiant crown of light atop her head. Additional inscriptions on this side of the coin include the national motto and the date mark.
On the reverse, the Peace Silver Dollar features an inspiring image of the American bald eagle that gives the coin its name. This design portrays the eagle perched calmly on a rock, clutching an olive branch in its talons. The eagle’s wings are folded by its side as it gazes toward the horizon, while radiant sunlight beams across the background.
