In 2012, the coins were released to the public for the first time for collectors to purchase. Today, 1914 $10 Canadian Gold Reserve Coins are available to you online from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
The coins of the Canadian Gold Reserve were struck by the Royal Canadian Mint between 1912 and 1914. However, the outbreak of World War I resulted in many of the coins being hoarded away by the Canadian government. The coins were initially held in the vaults of various banks, moved to the Department of Finance, and eventually held by the Bank of Canada. In 2012, after more than a century out of sight, the coins were released to the public for collectors to purchase.
All of these 1914 $10 Canadian Gold Reserve Coins are available with protective plastic flips. The coins are in Very Good+ condition. This is a generalized term for the condition of a coin that has medium to heavy wear with details that are still visible.
On the obverse of 1914 Canadian Gold Reserve Coins is a portrait of King George V of England. This depiction is the first of his reign, which started in 1910 and went until 1936. In this left-profile relief, George V is depicted with the Imperial State Crown upon his head. The inscriptions on this face of the coin are in traditional Latin text.
The reverse side of the 1914 $10 Canadian Gold Reserve Coins comes with the Coat of Arms adopted by the four founding provinces of Canada in 1868. The design was the default coat of arms coming from the formation of the Dominion of Canada. The shield at the center of this design is quartered. Each quadrant of the shield reflects the individual coat of arms of the four provinces that came together to form the Dominion of Canada.
