The Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle is perhaps the most beautiful Liberty design in American history and was the final depiction to grace the $20 Double Eagle. The Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle was produced by the United States Mint from 1907 to 1933, with a brief pause as the United States entered World War I. Today, 1910-S Pre-33 $20 Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle Coins are available at JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
The 1910 release of Saint-Gaudens Double Eagles featured strikes by the Philadelphia Mint, Denver Mint, and San Francisco Mint. These San Francisco Mint specimens represent the largest batch, with more than 2.128 million coins produced. The Denver Mint and Philadelphia Mint issued much smaller numbers at 429,000 and 482,000 coins, respectively.
All 1910-S Pre-33 $20 Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle Coins offered here are in Mint State 63 condition. Coins with this grade have slightly impaired mint luster with numerous small contact marks and a few heavier marks present. Small hairlines are possible and will be visible without magnification.
On the obverse of 1910-S $20 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle Coins, you will find Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ effigy of Lady Liberty. This front-facing portrait shows her full-length figure walking toward the viewer with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left hand. The U.S. Capitol Building, a ring of stars, and rays of sun light are found in the background.
The reverse side of the 1910-S Pre-33 Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle comes with a depiction of the bald eagle in left-profile relief as it soars through the sky. The eagle flies with outstretched wings as the sun rises from the bottom of the design field, its rays of light emanating toward the edges of the field.
