One of the oldest gold coins ever issued in circulation in the United States was the Gold Half Eagle. Introduced in 1795, the coins were struck for commercial use from 1795 to 1929. Over the course of time, five different designs appeared on the coins. These beautiful gold coins are coveted by modern collectors for their gold content and historical design value. Each 1907 Pre-33 $5 Liberty Gold Half Eagle Coin available in this product listing comes to you with a protective plastic flip. These coins are in Extremely Fine-plus condition. The 1907 $20 Liberty Gold Half Eagle marked the last release of the long-running Liberty Head design on the $5 Gold Coin. This was the fourth design used on this denomination and the longest-running as it was in production from 1839 to 1907. Its successor, the Indian Head Half Eagle, was the first-ever incuse struck design in US Mint history.
In the obverse design of 1907 Pre-33 $5 Liberty Gold Double Eagle Coins, the US Mint featured a portrait of Liberty from 1839. Designed by the 3rd Chief Engraver of the US Mint, Christian Gobrecht, this depiction shows Liberty in left-profile relief wearing a coronet crown on her head. The field includes a ring of 13 stars around the Liberty portrait and a date mark beneath the bust of Liberty.
For the reverse design of the 1907 $5 Liberty Gold Half Eagle, you will find the Type II design for the Half Eagle. This design shows the Heraldic Eagle of the United States, as the coin always has, with a front-facing bald eagle supporting the US national shield. The eagle’s wings are spread and a banner runs from wingtip to wingtip with an engraving of the national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST.
