The $5 Liberty Head Half Eagle is a well-known series in American coinage, produced over nearly 100 years. It reflects important historical periods such as the Civil War and the Gilded Age. Struck in .900 fine gold, each coin contains nearly one-quarter ounce of gold. These 1907 Liberty Half Eagles were released as the series neared its conclusion and feature Mint State 65 grades. Today, certified 1907 Pre-33 $5 Liberty Gold Half Eagle Coins are available from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
The 1907 Liberty Half Eagle entered commerce in a year of tremendous national energy and change, circulating through an American economy riding the prosperity of the Roosevelt era, even as the financial panic of that same year sent tremors through the banking system. As the final full year of issue, 1907 Half Eagles were produced and circulated without any particular ceremony. These were working coins, spending money, as utilitarian in their daily purpose as any that had preceded them across nearly seven decades of Liberty Head production.
All 1907 Pre-33 $5 Liberty Gold Half Eagle Coins available here come in MS65 condition. Coins at this grade level have pleasing eye appeal with above-average luster. The coins have only a few scattered, small contact marks or a maximum of two larger marks. Hairlines are small and scattered.
The obverse of the 1907 Liberty Gold Half Eagle Coin displays a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty wearing a coronet marked LIBERTY. Thirteen stars surround the design, with the date below. The design was created by Christian Gobrecht and refined by James B. Longacre in 1839.
The reverse of the 1907 Pre-33 $5 Liberty Half Eagle Coins includes a heraldic eagle with a shield across its chest, holding arrows and an olive branch. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA appears above, with FIVE D below. IN GOD WE TRUST was added in 1866.
