From 1838 to 1907, the US Mint’s Liberty Head Eagle Coin, a $10 gold piece, held the record for the longest-running design in the US Eagle denomination. Christian Gobrecht, the 3rd Chief Engraver of the United States Mint, crafted this iconic visual in 1838. The design graced the $10, $5, and $2.50 US Eagle coins, with the $10 Liberty Eagle enjoying the most extended production period. Today, 1907 $10 Liberty Gold Eagle Coins are available in certified condition from JM Bullion.

In 1907, the United States Mint was transitioning from the long-running Liberty Head design from Christian Gobrecht to the new Indian Head design from Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Both versions were struck in 1907, with the final issues of the Liberty Head struck at Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco. The latter two featured D and S mint marks, respectively, with no mint mark on Philadelphia specimens.
All 1907 $10 Liberty Gold Eagle Coins in this listing come in Mint State 63 condition. Coins with this grade have mint luster that is slightly impaired and have numerous small contact marks, as well as a few scattered, heavier marks. It is possible for some of these marks to be in the primary focal fields, while hairlines may present as scattered flaws or small patches of flaws.
On the obverse of 1907 Liberty Gold Eagles, you will find a portrait of Lady Liberty. This design from Gobrecht shows Liberty’s head in left-profile relief and she is depicted with a coronet crown on her head. The design element includes a ring of 13 stars around her portrait and a date mark beneath.
The reverse side of the 1907 $10 Liberty Gold Coin comes with a depiction of the heraldic eagle. In the design, a front-facing bald eagle is shown with the US national shield, the arrows of war, and the olive branch of peace. As a Type II specimen, these particular coins include a banner above the eagle with the national motto.
