Over the course of 27 years, Morgan Silver Dollar Coins were produced by the United States Mint. Production of these coins stretched from the end of the Reconstruction Era in the south through the Gilded Age and even, for one year, into the Roaring Twenties. Right now, certified 1904-O Morgan Silver Dollar Coins are available to purchase online from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
Each 1904-O Morgan Silver Dollar Coin available here comes in Mint State 64 condition. Coins with this grade exhibit average remaining mint luster for their age and feature small contact marks in groups, one or two heavier marks, and one or two small patches of hairlines.
1904 was the final year for annual production of Morgan Silver Dollars and the final year the New Orleans Mint would issue the coins. The New Orleans Mint faced several challenges during its operation, including disruptions caused by the Civil War, which led to the suspension of coin production from 1861 to 1879. During the war, the mint was used as a Confederate bullion depository and later as a federal facility after the city was recaptured by Union forces.
The obverse side of the 1904-O Morgan Dollar features a bust of Lady Liberty. Designed by George T. Morgan, this left-profile relief shows Liberty with a coronet crown and a laurel wreath crown on her head.
On the reverse field of the 1904-O Morgan Silver Dollar, you will find the heraldic eagle. Flanked by a wreath, the eagle is perched atop the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace as it spreads its wings to either side.
