The $10 Liberty Head Eagle is a longstanding series in US numismatics, produced from 1838 to 1907 and covering nearly seventy years of coinage. This series reflects important developments in American history while offering collectors a consistent gold coin design. Each piece is struck in .900 fine gold and contains nearly half an ounce of gold, combining intrinsic value with historical significance. Today, certified 1901-S Pre-33 $10 Liberty Gold Eagle Coins are available from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
The 1901-S $10 Liberty Head Eagle from the San Francisco Mint is one of the most celebrated issues in the entire series, struck with a remarkable mintage of 2,812,750 coins that reflects the San Francisco Mint’s extraordinary productivity during the peak years of California gold commerce. San Francisco Eagles of this period are consistently praised by specialists for their exceptional strike sharpness and surface quality.
All 1901-S Pre-33 $10 Liberty Gold Eagle Coins available here come in Mint State 63 condition. Coins in this condition have a rather attractive eye appeal with slight impairments in the luster. Numerous small contact marks are possible, along with a few scattered, heavier marks. Small hairlines will be visible without the aid of magnification.
The obverse of the 1901-S Pre-33 Liberty Gold Eagle features Christian Gobrecht’s portrait of Liberty wearing a coronet inscribed with LIBERTY. Introduced in 1838, this design became a standard for US gold coins. Liberty faces left in a calm profile, with her hair arranged neatly beneath the coronet. Thirteen stars surround the portrait to represent the original colonies.
The reverse of the 1901-S $10 Liberty Eagle presents a heraldic eagle holding arrows and an olive branch, with a shield across its chest. The inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and IN GOD WE TRUST appear above, with TEN D below. The motto was added to the design in 1866 after the Civil War.
