In the obverse design of 1901-S $10 Liberty Eagle Coins, you will find a portrait of Lady Liberty. This design was created in 1838 by Christian Gobrecht and features Liberty’s effigy in left-profile relief with a coronet crown on her head. The design is encircled by 13 stars and the date mark is at the bottom.
For the reverse of 1901-S Liberty Gold Eagles, Gobrecht created an image of the heraldic eagle. This design shows the bald eagle in front-facing relief with the US national shield. The eagle has its wings spread and is clutching the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace in its talons. As Type II coins, each one has the added banner above the eagle with the national motto.
In 1901, the San Francisco Mint issued the highest volume of Liberty Gold Eagles. With 2.812 million coins struck, San Francisco produced more than 1 million coins more than the Philadelphia Mint. Moreover, San Francisco issued just 81,000 coins in 1900 and saw a massive increase in production in 1901.
These 1901-S $10 Liberty Gold Eagle Coins come with a Mint State 63 certification. Coins in this condition showcase slightly impaired mint luster, scattered light contact marks, a few heavy marks, and the possibility of hairlines. The contact marks may appear in the primary focal points and hairlines may present as individual flaws or in small patches.
