The $5 Gold Half Eagle from the United States Mint is one of the longest-lived coin series in American history. First issued at the dawn of the nation’s history in 1795, the Half Eagle remained in production and circulation through the War of 1812, the California Gold Rush of the late 1840s, the US Civil War, the Gilded Age, the turn of the 20th century, World War I, and even the Roaring Twenties. Surviving specimens are a treat to behold for any collectors. Now, 1900 Pre-33 $5 Liberty Gold Half Eagle Coins are available to you for purchase online from JM Bullion.

Within the US Eagle denomination, perhaps the most memorable gold coin is the $5 Half Eagle. It was struck with great regularity by the US Mint from its introduction in 1795 until its conclusion in 1929. This denomination, in particular, went through a total of five different designs. These included the Turban Head from 1795 to 1807, the Draped Bust from 1807 to 1834, the Classic Head from 1834 to 1838, the Liberty Head from 1838 to 1908, and the Indian Head from 1908 to 1929.
As you may have noticed, the Liberty Head design was by far the most prominent and long-lasting design of the series. Though the Indian Head was unique and memorable in its own right as an incuse strike, the Liberty Head design graced the coins for 70 years in total.
Lady Liberty features on the obverse side of these 1900 Pre-33 $5 Liberty Gold Half Eagle Coins. This effigy was designed by Christian Gobrecht in 1838 and would on to feature on the coins for 70 years with no alterations to the design taking place during that time period.
The heraldic eagle of the United States is on the reverse field of 1900 Pre-33 $5 Liberty Half Eagles. This design is the second iteration of the heraldic eagle in this denomination. It features the bald eagle supporting the US national shield while clutching the olive branch of peace and arrows of war in its talons. Included in the design is a banner, added in 1866, that bears the national motto.
These 1900 Pre-33 $5 Liberty Gold Half Eagles are available with protective plastic flips. The coins available here are in XF+ condition.
