Each 1900 $5 Liberty Gold Half Eagle Coin available here is in Mint State 64 condition. Coins with this grade exhibit an average mint luster for the age and strike, with several small contact marks possible in groups. One or two moderately heavy marks are also possible, as well as one or two small patches of hairlines.
The 1900 Liberty Gold Half Eagle experienced a dip in production compared to the previous two years and marked the first of two years, combined with the 1901 release, to experience lower production. The overall volume of coins issued in 1900 was just over 1.73 million coins, with the vast majority coming from the Philadelphia Mint with its release of 1,405,500 coins. The San Francisco Mint also issued 329,000 coins.
The obverse of 1900 Liberty Half Eagle Coins includes the iconic 1838 depiction of Lady Liberty from Christian Gobrecht. This left-profile relief depicts Liberty with a coronet crown on her head and a ring of 13 stars around the bust. The date mark of the coin is at the top.
On the reverse of 1900 $5 Gold Half Eagle Coins, you will find the heraldic eagle. The primary image shows the American bald eagle with the US national shield at its front and its wings spread. The talons of the eagle clutch the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace. This reverse is the Type II reverse. Introduced in 1866, it includes a banner above the eagle with the national motto.
