Christian Gobrecht, serving as the 3rd Chief Engraver of the United States Mint, designed the Liberty Head Eagle Coin in 1838. This $10 gold piece became the most enduring design in the US Eagle denomination’s history. While featured on $10, $5, and $2.50 Eagles, the $10 Liberty Eagle had the longest production run, spanning from 1838 to 1907. Right now, certified 1895 $10 Liberty Gold Eagle Coins are available from JM Bullion.

Each 1895 $10 Liberty Gold Eagle Coin here comes in Mint State 63 condition with a plastic slab for protection. Coins in this condition exhibit slightly impaired mint luster with numerous small contact marks and a few scattered heavy marks, some of which may be in the primary focal areas. It is also possible for scattered hairlines or a small patch of hairlines to be present.
1895 marks a particularly low year of production in the midst of the decade 1890-1900. The $10 Liberty Gold Eagle was struck at the Philadelphia Mint, the New Orleans Mint, and San Francisco Mint in 1895, with Philadelphia producing the vast majority of the coins at more than 567,000 coins.
Lady Liberty is on the obverse of 1895 Liberty Gold Eagles. This design from Gobrecht was created in 1838 and featured on these coins through 1907. It shows the head of Liberty in left-profile relief with a coronet crown on her head. There is also a ring of stars around the field with the date mark at the bottom.
The heraldic eagle graces the reverse of the 1895 $10 Liberty Eagle Coin. Also created by Gobrecht, the image shows a front-facing bald eagle with its wings spread as it supports the US national shield. The eagle also clutches the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace. As a Type II specimen, these coins also feature a banner above the eagle with the national motto.
