The $10 Eagle Gold Coin is a hallmark of American coinage, originally minted by the United States Mint in 1794. For 139 years, this coin circulated widely, undergoing multiple design changes throughout its history. The most enduring of these designs was the Liberty Gold Eagle, which was produced from 1838 to 1907, making it the longest-running version of the $10 Eagle series before it was discontinued in 1933. Today, 1894 $10 Liberty Gold Eagle Coins are available in certified condition from JM Bullion.

The 1890s was a relatively high period of production for the $10 Eagle Gold Coin Series. From 1890 to 1893, the US Mint had four branch mints striking the coins on a yearly basis, with volume varying by mint. From 1894 to 1900, production would continue at Philadelphia, New Orleans, and San Francisco following the 1893 closure of the Carson City Mint. In 1894, Philadelphia lead the way by production more than 2.4 million coins.
All 1894 $10 Liberty Gold Eagle Coins available here are in Mint State 63 condition and ship with a protective slab. Hairlines are possible and may present as scattered individual flaws or as small patches of flaws.
On the obverse of 1894 Liberty Gold Eagles, you will find Christian Gobrecht’s portrait of Liberty. Designed in 1838 for this series, the design shows Liberty’s head in left-profile relief with a coronet crown atop her head and a ring of 13 stars around her effigy. The date mark of the coin is at the bottom.
The reverse side of the 1894 $10 Liberty Eagle Coin comes with an image of the heraldic eagle. This emblem of the United States features a front-facing bald eagle with the US national shield, the arrows of war, and the olive branch of peace. As a Type II specimen, this coin includes a banner above the eagle with the national motto. This feature was introduced in 1866.
