One of the most storied coins on the collectors’ market is the Morgan Dollar, issued between the years 1878 and 1904 from branch mints all over America. The branch mint at New Orleans issued a particularly large run of these large and visually distinctive coins in 1884, striking nearly 10 million pieces, many of which survived in uncirculated condition in bags in Treasury vaults. Coins from this particular branch sometimes suffered from weak strikes and aren’t quite as easy to find in a certified grade of 60 or above as that history might suggest. This coin’s grade certification was provided by the experts at the third-party coin grading service NGC, leaders in authenticating rare coins for more than thirty years. A grade of Mint State 64 indicates an attractive overall eye appeal with average strike and luster, along with scattered scuffs, contact marks, and hairline scratches that might show in prime focal areas.
The 1884-O Morgan Silver Dollar Coin comes in a secure plastic slab labeled with its grade. Each shipment is fully insured by the team at JM Bullion against any chance of mishap during transit.
