Over the course of 13 years, the Carson City Mint issued Morgan Silver Dollar coins for the United States Mint. Production at the Carson City Mint came in two waves across the 1870s, 1880s, and 1890s. The first wave came from 1878 when the series as a whole launched and ran until 1885. That makes the 1884 Morgan Silver Dollar from the Carson City Mint the penultimate release of its original wave of production. Today, 1884-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coins are available to you online at JM Bullion in certified condition.
Coin Highlights:
The Carson City Mint was founded by the United States Mint as a second western branch mint after the founding two decades earlier of the San Francisco Mint. The Carson City Mint was purpose-built to use local sources of silver in the production of American coinage. The mint was operational from 1870 to 1885 and again from 1889 to 1893.
All of the 1884-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coins available here come in plastic slabs with Mint State 64 grades. Coins in this condition have an average mint luster with several small contact marks clustered together in groups. It is also possible for one or two heavier contact marks to be present, as well as one or two small patches of hairlines.
On the obverse of the 1884-CC Morgan Dollar is a portrait of Lady Liberty. This portrait of Liberty offers a left-profile bust of Liberty with a Phrygian cap on her head. The design includes 13 stars around the portrait with a coronet crown and laurel wreath crown also on her head.
The reverse side of 1884-CC Morgan Silver Dollar comes with an image of the heraldic eagle of the United States. This design shows the bald eagle in front-facing relief with the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace in its talons.
