The Carson City Mint was one of the original US Mint branch facilities to issue Morgan Silver Dollars. From the very first year, the Carson City Mint was active in coining Morgan Silver Dollars for use in the United States economy. However, after 1885, the mint would only issue the coins five more times before its closure in 1893. Today, 1884-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coins in certified condition are available to you online at JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
From 1878 to 1885, the Carson City Mint issued Morgan Silver Dollars on an annual basis. During this same time period, the Philadelphia Mint, San Francisco Mint, and New Orleans Mint were all active in coining Morgan Dollars. The Carson City Mint issued the lowest mintages in the series during this period, with these 1884-CC Morgan Dollars having the third-highest mintage from this branch during the period of 1878-1885.
All of the 1884-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coins offered here come in protective plastic slabs. The coins have a Mint State 66 grade, indicating that each one has an above-average mint luster with a maximum of four small contact marks and light hairlines that are only visible under magnification.
On the obverse of 1884-CC Morgan Silver Dollars is an effigy of Lady Liberty. The design element features a left-profile portrait of Liberty wearing the Phrygian cap on her head with a coronet crown and laurel wreath. The field also has 13 stars split six along one edge of the design and seven along the other edge.
The reverse side of the 1884-CC Morgan Dollars comes with a 19th-century version of the heraldic eagle of the United States. This design features a front-facing bald eagle with its wings spread and its head looking to its right (coin left). The eagle is clutching the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace in its talons.
