The Morgan Silver Dollar was introduced in 1878 as a replacement for the Seated Liberty Silver Dollar. The latter was the first widely circulated silver dollar in US history, but it was canceled in 1873 when the Congress ended the free coining of silver. In 1878, silver dollar production resumed with a new design from George T. Morgan. Right now, 1883-O Morgan Silver Dollar Coins in certified condition are available to purchase online from JM Bullion.
