MS64 coins display an average strike and luster along with scattered contact marks and hairline scratches, some of which can be in prime focal areas.
Morgan Silver Dollars were named after former Chief Engraver of the US Mint, George T. Morgan. The former Chief Engraver also designed both design fields of this iconic coin. Morgan Silver Dollars debuted in 1878, however, the New Orleans Mint started minting these coins the following year. While these coins made a comeback in 1921 and again in 2021, the New Orleans Mint only produced these coins from 1879-1904.
The obverse field of each 1883-O Silver Dollar Coin features the George T. Morgan depiction of Lady Liberty. This design debuted with the coin in 1878 and features Lady Liberty in left-profile relief donning the Phrygian cap along with 13 stars symbolizing the original 13 colonies.
A bald eagle is depicted on the reverse of each 1883-O Morgan Dollar Coin. This image was also created by George T. Morgan and features an eagle about to take off. The eagle is seen clutching 3 arrows and an olive branch. Also featured are decorative laurels tied together by a ribbon.
