The Morgan Silver Dollar is one of the most popular historic American coins among 21st-century collectors. Part of the driving force behind the collectible value of all Morgan Silver Dollars is the relative rarity of 19th-century pieces in this series. Countless Morgan Dollars were collected and melted down following the 1904 halt in the series. Some of the most sought-after Morgan Silver Dollars are those that were issued by the Carson City Mint. Now, 1883-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coins in certified condition are available to you for purchase online from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
The Carson City Mint Morgan Dollars are coveted among collectors for a number of reasons. First and foremost, only the Denver Mint issued fewer date marks in the series, striking the coins only in 1921 during the one-year revival of the Morgan Dollar design. The Carson City Mint only issued the coins a total of 13 different times.
Morgan Silver Dollars were struck at Carson City from 1878 when the series started until 1885, at which point the Carson City Mint was closed for three years from 1886 to 1888. In 1889, the mint resumed production of the coins and would strike them through 1893 when it was closed permanently. In each of these years, the Carson City Mint struck far fewer Morgan Dollars than the other branches of the US Mint.
Lady Liberty features on the obverse side of the 1883-CC Morgan Dollar. This design from George T. Morgan offers a left-profile relief of Liberty as she wears both a coronet crown and laurel wreath crown on her head. The back of her head is covered by a Phrygian cap.
In the reverse design of 1883-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coins, the US Mint features Morgan’s depiction of the heraldic eagle of the United States. This design shows the eagle in front-facing relief with the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace.
These 1883-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coins are in Mint State 64 condition. Coins in this grade showcase average mint luster for their age and have several small contact marks clustered n groups, with one or two moderately heavy marks also possible. You will also find one or two small patches of hairlines on the coin.
