Introduced in 1878, the Morgan Silver Dollar Coin was one of America’s most popular silver dollar coin designs. The series was available from 1878 to 1904, and later issued for a final time in 1921 before the transition to the Peace Silver Dollar. The Morgan Dollar remains a popular coin with investors and collectors to this day, with certain pieces garnering greater attention. Right now, certified 1883-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coins are available to purchase online from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
Each 1883-CC Morgan Silver Dollar available here comes with a Mint State 63 grade from the NGC. Coins in this condition exhibit slightly impaired mint luster, with a variety of different flaws possible. These include numerous smaller contact marks scattered throughout the coin and a few heavier marks. Hairlines visible without the aid of magnification and minor scuff marks are also possible.
The 1883 release of Morgan Silver Dollars at the Carson City Mint marked the sixth issue of coins in the Morgan Silver Dollar Series at the Nevada-based mint. Just three years later, the Carson City Mint would take a break from coining between 1886 and 1888, resulting in no new CC-Morgan Silver Dollars until 1889.
Lady Liberty is on the obverse of 1883-CC Morgan Dollars. This design from George T. Morgan features a left-profile bust of Liberty. Anna Willess Williams was the model for Morgan’s version of Liberty and in this design, Liberty wears a Phrygian cap with a laurel wreath and coronet crown on her head.
The heraldic eagle of the United States features on the reverse of the 1883-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coin. This design was also created by Morgan and features a front-facing bald eagle. The bird spreads its wings and clutches the arrows of war along with the olive branch of peace in its talons.
