The Morgan Silver Dollar has remained a cherished piece of American history since its initial release over 140 years ago. First struck by the United States Mint from 1878 to 1904, and again in 1921, its timeless design featuring Liberty has earned it a special place in the hearts of collectors. Now, 1882-S Morgan Silver Dollar Coins are available to you online at JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
The obverse of the 1882-S Morgan Silver Dollar features George T. Morgan’s classic portrait of Liberty. Depicted in left-profile, Liberty is shown wearing a Phrygian cap, laurel wreath, and a coronet that represents freedom and triumph.
On the reverse of the 1882-S Morgan Dollar Coin, Morgan’s heraldic eagle design stands proudly. This American eagle, unlike others, is portrayed without a shield, holding arrows and an olive branch to signify both defense readiness and a desire for peace.
In 1882, the US Mint produced millions of Morgan Silver Dollars across several locations. These particular specimens were struck in the American West at the San Francisco Mint and bear an S mint mark. The San Francisco Mint had the second-highest mintage in 1882, with its 9.25 million coins falling short of the 11.1 million coins issued by the Philadelphia Mint. In total, around 27.57 million Morgan Dollars were issued in 1882, with New Orleans striking 6.09 million coins and Carson City producing 1.133 million coins.
These 1882-S Morgan Silver Dollar Coins are available here in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition. Each coin is individually packaged in a protective plastic flip, with tube options available for orders of 20 or more.
