From 1878 to 1904, and again one final time in 1921, the United States Mint issued the silver dollar design from George T. Morgan that was known simply as the Morgan Silver Dollar. This bust of Liberty and depiction of the heraldic eagle were struck together for 28 years in total, with the Philadelphia Mint, San Francisco Mint, New Orleans Mint, Carson City Mint, and Denver Mint all issuing the coins. The lowest-minted specimens come from the Carson City Mint and its limited production run in the 19th century.
All of these 1881-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coins come to you in plastic flips and arrive in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. A BU coin is one that has its full, original mint luster, but may show production flaws such as breaks in the luster or minor contact marks from the die. Please note that a BU coin of this age could show toning in the silver, a factor that results from the natural oxidation process and does not impact the value of the silver.
On the obverse of 1881-CC Morgan Silver Dollars is a portrait of Lady Liberty. Designed in 1878 by George T. Morgan, it depicts the figure of Liberty’s head with a Phrygian cap, coronet crown, and a laurel wreath. There are 13 stars on this field and a date mark of 1881.
The reverse side of the 1881-CC Morgan Dollar Coin comes with a unique vision of the heraldic eagle of the United States. This design was created in 1878 as well and features a front-facing bald eagle with no national shield included. It clutches the arrows of war and olive branch of peace in its talons, with a laurel wreath encircling the bird.
