MS65 coins have an attractive remaining mint luster with a few scattered, small contact marks present or two larger marks. It is also possible the coins will have one or two small patches of hairlines and light scuffs on the high points of the design strikes.
The obverse of 1880-S Morgan Dollar Coins features the well-known Lady Liberty depiction by George T. Morgan. This well-known image features Liberty in left-profile relief from the neck-up. She’s seen wearing a coronet crown as well as a laurel wreath.
The reverse field of 1880-S Morgan Silver Coins features the heraldic eagle design. Like the obverse, George T. Morgan created this design as well. It features a bald eagle with its wings stretched in front-facing relief. Its talons are clutching an olive branch and three arrows.
Coins in this listing all bear the “S” mint mark from the San Francisco Mint. The San Francisco Mint, which is still up and running today, has struck these coins each year they’ve been made available. Since 1878 San Francisco has produced over 131 million Morgan Silver Dollars.
