The Morgan Dollars from the United States Mint were produced from 1878 to 1904 and again one final time in 1921. During the first years of production, four mints were involved in coining the Morgan Silver Dollars. The Carson City Mint was one of three mints striking the coins right away in 1878. Today, 1880-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coins are available to you online from JM Bullion in certified condition.
Coin Highlights:
The Carson City Mint was purpose-built by the United States to take advantage of local silver supplies in the American West. The Carson City Mint almost exclusively struck silver coins for circulation in the US and produced Morgan Silver Dollars from 1878 to 1885 and again from 1889 until the mint closed in 1893.
All of these 1880-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coins are available to you in plastic slabs from the PCGS with an MS64 grade. Mint State 64 specimens have average mint luster remaining and come with the potential for various minor flaws. These include light, scattered marks, with some present in the prime focal areas. The coins may also have a few scattered hairlines or one larger patch. Overall, the coins remain quite visually attractive.
On the obverse of 1880-CC Morgan Dollars is the image of Liberty. Created in 1878 by George T. Morgan, this effigy shows Liberty in left-profile relief with a Phrygian cap on her head. She also has the laurel wreath and coronet crown in her hair with 13 stars around the lower half of the design field.
The reverse of the 1880-CC Morgan Silver Dollar includes the heraldic eagle of the United States. A common version of the design in the 19th century, this version lacks a US national shield, but does include the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace in the bird’s talons.
