The obverse of all 1878-S Silver Dollar Coins features Lady Liberty, designed by Assistant Engraver, George T. Morgan. Liberty is seen from the neck-up in left-profile relief donning a coronet crown with a laurel wreath. The issuing year, “E Pluribus Unum” and 13 stars surround the elegant image.
The heraldic eagle of George T. Morgan can be found on the reverse field of 1878-S Morgan Silver Dollars. This front-facing eagle is shown with its wings spread, holding three arrows and an olive branch in its talons. Identifying marks of the coin surround the eagle.
