This 1878-CC Morgan Silver Dollar is a must-have vintage coin for collectors. The first year of issue, this specimen is an MS64 coin with light, scattered marks. This particular specimen has an evenly distributed gray field surrounding Liberty on the obverse and frosted, silver-white brilliance around the eagle on the reverse.
Morgan Silver Dollars were introduced in 1878 and produced by a total of four branch mints during the original run from 1878 to 1904. The Carson City Mint issued the fewest dates in the series and the lowest figures, making Carson City coins sought-after collectibles with fans of classic currency. However, San Francisco and New Orleans Mint pieces also have key dates in the series that are prized by collectors.
The obverse of 1878-CC Morgan Dollar Coins comes with a depiction of Lady Liberty. With artwork by George T. Morgan, the image shows Liberty in left-profile relief with a Phrygian cap, laurel wreath, and a coronet crown on her head. The field includes a ring of 13 stars with the date of issue.
On the reverse of the 1878-CC Morgan Silver Dollar is an image of the heraldic eagle. Also designed by Morgan, the image shows a bald eagle in front-facing relief with its wings spread wide as its talons clutch the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace. This side includes the CC mint mark.
