Coin Highlights:
The obverse of the 1855 $10 Liberty Gold Eagle Coin features Lady Liberty. This depiction of Liberty was created by Christian Gobrecht and was the longest-used design on $10 Liberty Eagles. Liberty is shown in left-profile relief wearing a coronet crown, surrounded by 13 stars.
The reverse side of the 1855 $10 Liberty Gold Eagle Coin showcases the heraldic eagle. Also created by Christian Gobrecht, this design displays a front-facing bald eagle with the national shield on its chest. The eagle is clutching an olive branch and three arrows in its talons.
Each 1855 $10 Liberty Gold Eagle Coin will arrive in a protective plastic slab from the PCGS. These coins were graded as MS61 by the Professional Coin Grading Service. MS61 coins showcase diminished mint luster, clusters of large and small contact marks, and hairlines that are noticeable to the naked eye.
The Fairmont Collection is part of a hoard of Pre-33 US Gold Coins that wound up outside the United States as a result of international commerce between America and other countries. In the late-2010’s, these coins which mainly consisted of $5 US Half Eagles, $10 US Eagles, and $20 Double Eagles, were repatriated to the United States.
