The Fairmont collection is a unique hoard of rare Pre-33 US Gold Coins. Due to international commerce, these coins ended up overseas and were just recently discovered in international bank vaults. Now that they have been returned to American soil, and even graded by the PCGS, JM Bullion is excited to bring to you the 1852-C $5 Liberty Gold Half Eagle Coin. Order yours today.
Coin Highlights:
Coins with the “C” mint mark indicate that they were struck at the Charlotte Mint in North Carolina. Shortly after the first documented discovery of gold in America, the Reed Gold Mine was established making it the first gold mine in the United States. However, no mints existed in North Carolina, meaning that gold had to be transported back to Philadelphia. Thus, the Charlotte Mint was established in 1838 to produce gold coinage only.
Each 1852-C $5 Liberty Gold Half Eagle Coin will arrive in a protective plastic slab from the PCGS. The PCGS gave coins in this listing a grade of VF35. Gold coins with this grade indicate that light wear is seen over the entire surface, however, all major details are still visible.
The obverse field of the 1852-C $5 Liberty Half Eagle Coin features Christian Gobrecht’s Lady Liberty design. This left profile bust showcases Liberty donning the coronet crown. She’s also surrounded by 13 stars.
The reverse side of the 1852-C Liberty Gold Half Eagle Coin displays the heraldic eagle design by Christian Gobrecht. This image showcases the bald eagle clutching a bundle of arrows and an olive branch in its talons. The national shield is also displayed on its chest.
