The 1848 issue of $10 Liberty Gold Eagle Coins was the 11th for this design series in the $10 Eagle denomination. Designed by Christian Gobrecht, this visual pairing of Liberty and the Heraldic Eagle featured on the $10 Gold Eagle from 1838 to 1907. As Fairmont Collection specimens, these coins spent decades in overseas vaults before being repatriated to the US in the 21st century.

This effigy shows Liberty with her hair in a tight bun at the back of her head and includes a coronet crown on her head. There is an arch of 13 stars above the portrait and a date mark at the bottom.

This classic design shows the front-facing eagle with spread wings and a US national shield on its chest.
