The Engelhard Corporation was founded by Charles W. Engelhard in 1902. After acquiring a few other businesses such as Baker & Co., Engelhard became the world’s largest refiner and fabricator of gold, silver, and platinum. After a century of business, Engelhard was purchased in 2006 by the German chemical manufacturer, BASF, for $5 billion. Engelhard is notably credited for developing the first production catalytic converter.
Conrad J. Braun founded the Gold Standard Corporation in 1977. Braun and his company would purchase gold from the U.S. Treasury, mint his own coins, and sell them to the public. His contrived denomination became known as the Gold Standard Unit. In the decade that followed, the price of gold took a steep dive. Braun was eventually convicted of defrauding upwards of 500 investors and his company was raided by the FBI and shut down in 1993.
Identifying marks of the bar are displayed on the obverse field of the Engelhard Struck Gold Standard Silver Bar. These marks include the metal weight, purity, Gold Standard Corporation logo, and a unique serial number. The serial number will begin with the letter p and be followed by six digits. The reverse field is intentionally left blank.
Your order of the 100 oz Struck Gold Standard Silver Bar will arrive in a plastic bag. Notably, the bar in this listing is the second series of this bar. Series one featured the identifying marks of the silver bar located at the bottom of the bar, rather than the top of it.
