The Buffalo Nickel is one of the most impressive and coveted coin designs from American history. The image is so popular that it is still regularly reproduced on silver rounds and as the face of the American Gold Buffalo bullion coin from the United States Mint. Right now, 10 oz SilverTowne Buffalo Silver Bars are available to purchase online from JM Bullion in brand-new condition.
Bar Highlights:
Each of the 10 oz SilverTowne Buffalo Silver Bars available to you here today is shipped individually sealed in plastic and offers investors a chance to purchase a large amount of silver at a lower premium compared to other silver bullion products on the market.
The Buffalo Silver Nickel was designed in 1913 by James Earle Fraser for the United States Mint. Fraser grew up in the Upper Midwest and his design was heavily influenced by the things he saw as a child. He would frequently follow his father for work. His father worked for the railroad and traveled across Minnesota and the Dakotas regularly.
On the reverse of these 10 oz SilverTowne Buffalo Silver Bars is the image of Black Diamond. This creature actually existed and lived at the Central Park Zoo in New York City in the early 20th century. Black Diamond is an American bison and served as the inspiration for Fraser’s reverse design on the Buffalo Nickel.
The obverse of the 10 oz SilverTowne Buffalo Bar features the right-profile portrait of a Native American figure. Fraser combined the facial features of various living tribal leaders of the era rather than choosing one individual’s likeness for the coin.
Engravings on this bar include the word “Liberty” within the round portion of the obverse design. This side of the bar also includes the purity, metal content, and weight of the silver bar. The reverse includes the words “United States of America” and “E Pluribus Unum” within the round portion and has a cross-hatched design field behind that.
SilverTowne is the production mint for these silver bars for sale. SilverTowne is located in Winchester, Indiana, and got its start as a small family-run coin shop. Today it is one of America’s leading private mints.
