These are now sold out at the mint, no more are being produced as Johnson Matthey’s refining business has been sold.
Highly sought-after among silver bullion collectors and investors, the brand new 10 oz Johnson Matthey Silver Bar is a picture of quality and design-expertise. Upon occasion customers wonder why Johnson Matthey products command higher prices than other products in their weight range, and the simple answer is because the Johnson Matthey brand carries such historic prestige. Offering excellence in precious metals refining since the 1850s (even as early as 1814 if one counts its precursor company), Johnson Matthey has created an elegant product with its 10 oz Silver Bar.
- Contains 10 oz of .999 pure silver.
- Features the popular Johnson Matthey logo.
- Minted at Johnson Matthey Mint.
- Design includes a serial number for additional security.
- Ship in individual plastic flips.
The brand new 10 oz Johnson Matthey Silver Bar features the same design as years past. Revered for its simple yet effective design, each bar is stamped with the Johnson Matthey logo as well as stamps that denote its ten troy ounces of .999 pure silver.
In addition, as with many JM silver bars, customers will see a unique serial number stamped on the bar to denote its uniqueness and authenticity as a Johnson Matthey product. This re-release features serial numbers starting with “A001001”, but please note that we cannot guarantee any specific serial number for your bars. The reverse side of the bar boasts a pattern of logo-type stamps with the JM initials and miners tools. Because these bars continue to be sought after, they recoup their extra cost when resold which is one of their great selling points.
The company got its start in 1817 when Pericval Norton Johnson established a gold assaying business in London. Over three decades later, a man named George Matthey teamed up with Percival to form what we know today as Johnson Matthey. In 1852 Johnson & Matthey where named the official Assayer and Refiner of the Bank of England. They later went on to become one of the worlds largest producers of precious metals. During the 20th century, the company started to shift their focus from precious metals to banking and chemicals. In the 1980s they ceased the production of their silver bullion bars even though they were in high demand. Towards the beginning of the 21st century they started producing their 100oz and 1oz silver bars once again and then in 2014 they finally re-release their 10oz silver bar.
