Cast-poured gold bars are created by pouring gold shot, flakes, or small ingots into a prepared mold or cast. These molds typically consist of two faces—top and bottom—that fully enclose the metal. Using advanced heating methods, often involving induction technology, the gold is melted and evenly distributed within the mold. Once cooled, the bar is removed and given its final touches. Some cast gold bars are made by injecting molten gold directly into the mold through a narrow opening. Compared to hand-poured bars, cast bars usually feature a smooth, flat surface and a more consistent, uniform appearance.
The obverse of the 10 oz Argor-Heraeus Cast Gold Bar features the identifying hallmarks of the piece. Included on this side are the Argor-Heraeus logo, the nation of production, and the bar’s identifying hallmarks, such as the weight, metal content, and purity. The bars also feature an assayer’s mark. On the reverse, the bar is blank.
