Note: These rounds are shipped in their originally sealed 20-count tubes if ordering in larger quantities
This 1 oz Walking Liberty Copper Round commemorates the artwork featured on Adolph Weinman’s half-dollar coin design. Weinman’s Walking Liberty design would grace the front of the half-dollar from 1916 to 1947. It went on to become the most well-known of his designs.
Round Highlights:
Each round was privately minted from 1 avoirdupois ounce of .999 fine copper and is guaranteed to arrive in newly minted condition. To ensure the preservation of their brand new state, all copper rounds have been carefully packaged in either a protective sleeve for individual orders or in their original rolls of 20 for larger orders. Please note that although this copper round was modeled after an existing coin, it is not legal tender and cannot be used as real currency.
On the front of this round is the eponymous Walking Liberty, who is crossing the great plains of America to greet the rising sun. She is attired in a toga bearing the stars and stripes of our flag. In one arm, she clasps a bundle of laurel and oak branches, while she extends the other in a gesture of invitation. The intention of Weinman’s design was to reflect both the peace and abundance that this country represents to so many who immigrate here. Also inscribed on this round are the words, “Liberty,” and the phrase, “In God We Trust.” The only exception to Weinman’s original front design is the omission of the coin’s mintage date, which used to appear underneath Lady Liberty.
The reverse side of the coin also departs from Weinman’s design. In lieu of his perched eagle is a stylized rendition of the heraldic eagle. This rendition features a winged shield with the word “USA” printed beneath it. Above the winged shield appears our nation’s flag. To further enhance its patriotic motif, a series of 6 stars appears on the reverse side’s border along with the purity and weight of the round.
This Walking Liberty Copper Round offers a stunning tribute to one of Weinman’s most memorable coin designs. "The rounds were nice, but not scuff free. They were in a tube, as I ordered 20. There is nothing between the coins to keep them from rubbing on each other, so if you're a perfectionist like me, you will see some scuff marks and small imperfections. At the price, and since it's just a bullion piece, you won't really have to care too much. Otherwise, good quality."
