The Texas Mint is one of the few refiners in the United States producing gold and silver bullion to .9999 purity levels. In addition to Texas silver rounds, the mint also produces a range of silver and gold bars for sale. One of its most popular designs is the interior ceiling of the Capitol Rotunda in Austin. After winning independence from Mexico, the Republic of Texas existed as a sovereign nation for nearly a decade. During this time, it had four presidents: Sam Houston (twice), Mirabeau B. Lamar, and Anson Jones. The Republic issued its own currency called the Texas Dollar, maintained a small navy, and conducted foreign relations with several countries, including the United States, France, and the United Kingdom.
All 1 oz Texas Mint Gold Bars available here come individually sealed in blistercards. The blisterpacks feature a dark orange colorization and come with multiples of 25 bars in Texas Mint boxes. Each card in the blisterpack features the silhouette of Texas on the back with the identifying hallmarks.
Obverse design elements on Texas Mint Gold Bars include the image of the Texas Capitol Rotunda. The Rotunda features a star in its center, known as the “Lone Star” – a symbol deeply associated with Texas. The dome of the Rotunda rises to a height of 218 feet inside, making it taller than the dome of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. The silhouette of the state is featured on this side, as well as the hallmarks of the bar.
Reverse visuals on the 1 oz Texas Mint Gold Bar feature the silhouette of the state in a repeating pattern. The Republic of Texas claimed a much larger territory than the current state boundaries. This included all of present-day Texas, parts of New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, and Wyoming. These claims were based on the Treaties of Velasco, signed after the Texas Revolution, but were disputed by Mexico and later adjusted when Texas joined the United States.
