The silver bullion market is a diverse landscape that includes sovereign mint products alongside privately-issued products. Many small, private mints have products that were struck decades ago, but continue to circulate and capture the interest of investors and collectors alike. The Swiss of America brand is one such historic piece. Right now, 1 oz Swiss of America Silver Rounds are available at JM Bullion.
Round Highlights:
Each 1 oz Swiss of America Silver Round comes with a protective plastic flip. These silver rounds are classic items minted by the Draper Mint in the 1970s. Draper Mint issued several Swiss Alps-themed designs, each with slight variations to the imagery of the Alps and numerous obverse designs.
Draper Mint was founded in Draper, Utah, in 1960 by Loyd Hewitt. An officer in the United States Army Air Corps During World War II, he used his GI Bill after the war to study geophysics at the University of Utah. Hewitt eventually traveled North America surveying for mineral deposits and later opened Draper Mint.
For the obverse of the Swiss of America Silver Round, the design field includes the inscriptions of SWISS OF AMERICA, 999 FINE SILVER, and ONE OUNCE. This side of the round includes a beaded border. On the reverse of 1 oz Swiss of America Silver Rounds, you’ll find a depiction of the majesty of the Swiss Alps with the series design name, SWISS OF AMERICA, engraved on the field.
These classic silver rounds were first struck more than five decades ago and make a great addition to any silver collection. Many of the Swiss of America Silver Round variants were struck in 1973 or 1974, but all were undated.
