Suns of Liberty Mint is a veteran-founded and owned minting operation that prides itself on developing not only its own technology, but following its own production processes and designs. Right now, 1 oz Standard Finish Suns of Liberty Silver Squares are available from JM Bullion.

Suns of Liberty Mint has one of the most unique backstories of any private minting facility in the United States. Founder Dave Breger is a veteran of the United States Army’s Special Forces, and his 10 years of service included combat action that earned him a Valor Award.
He started his minting operation as a small effort from his apartment and the garage space of a neighbor. His original products were all hand cut and hand stamped, totally 15,000 pieces of silver. Today, the company proudly uses technology that Breger and others developed themselves to produce silver squares.
The 1 oz Standard Finish Suns of Liberty Silver Square is the mint’s primary offering, and it features a square design with the mint’s stylized sun logo on the obverse. This sun is perfectly rounded, with elongated, wavy lines to represent its warm rays. Engravings include the name of the mint and the year of issue.
On the reverse is the image of a number “1” with sun rays blasting out from behind its shape. This is a clever play on the Suns of Liberty Mint name and logo, while also indicating the weight of this particular product. Other markings include the weight, metal content, and purity, as well as the shorthand “SOLM” for Suns of Liberty Mint.
Suns of Liberty Mint started increased production with a punch press that Breger actually took apart himself and put back together as a working silver square press. Today the company owns an industrial manufacturing site in Pennsylvania where it produces all of its silver, right here in the United States with American workers.
