Unlike most states, Delaware doesn’t update the design of their license plate very frequently. From 1962 until 2023, they’ve largely kept the design of this plate the same. In 1969 it was updated to a new font. The plate was updated again in 2008 to include a beveled edge. The state of Delaware first started issuing plates in 1909.
