The Mucha Collection is an exciting new series of six designs set for release from Anonymous Mint in 2017. Mucha’s Rose design was the first of four panels in the so-called Flower Series, which debuted in 1898. Each of the panels in the Flower Series used a naturalistic style and minimal stylization. Two of the four watercolors in this collection debuted in 1897 at Mucha’s solo exhibit at the Salon des Cent, with the entire set not available until 1898.
The Flower Series sold out quickly following its debut from Mucha’s solo exhibition, and Champenois later offered all four panels together on a smaller version that put all the women of the design series together in a single image, rather than four separate offerings.
All 1 oz Proof Mucha Collection Rose Silver Rounds represent the third release in the Mucha Collection from Anonyous Mint. These rounds have a proof finish, with a deeply, mirrored reflection on the background fields. Rounds in the Mucha Collection have edge lettering of their serial numbers, which correspond with the Certificate of Authenticity you receive with purchase.
The obverse of the 1 oz Proof Mucha Collection Rose Silver Round includes a popular portrait of the artist himself. Taken from a photo in which he is seated, you’ll see only his face in this portrait with engravings of his name, years of birth and death, and the round’s weight, purity, and metal content.
On the reverse of the 1 oz Proof Mucha Collection Rose Silver Round is the image of Rose. Mucha’s collection of beautiful women from The Flower Series followed a design pattern he frequently used through the Art Nouveau movement. He routinely used images of beautiful women with soft features and suggestive gestures in the design elements.
Anonymous Mint created this round series with the approval of The Mucha Foundation, which is charged with cataloging and protecting the history of works from Alphonse Mucha. Julie Lindquist developed the design concepts for each silver round, and Italian Master Sculptor Luigi Badia engraved each.
